Jesus moves mountains

Since I've decided to write daily devotionals, I've neglected my blog. The random events of this weekend warranted a post.

Much to be thankful for.

I cannot begin to describe how thankful I am for the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm ahead of myself.

Saturday morning started with an early trip to the grocery store, one of my favorite things to do. While shopping, I made plans to play tennis with a friend at 9:30. I told you it was an early start. Once at the tennis courts, a seemingly homeless man asked if he could play for 5 minutes. My friend or I did not object. I played tennis with the man, who was either named Trevor or Charles. My friend and I heard different names. He was definitely a better player than I was despite his slow moving stagger. Perhaps he used to be state champion. After a semi-decent volley, he left.

After tennis, my friend and I walked around the 'hood. We found a more secluded set of courts for future tennis matches.

I was able to make it to the YMCA for a yoga class at 11. It was yin yoga, a style to restore balance after a full moon. It's intended for the kidney life line or something. It works to bring the energy in your body downward to counteract the upward pull from the moon. It's also intended to encourage use of a bathroom afterward. For whatever reason, it also it supposed to help with the menstrual cycle. I learned a lot in my yoga class.

After the YMCA I went to grocery store #2 for a few things on sale (2 packages of blueberries for $3 at Ralph's). Then I fixed lunch. I pulled weeds in my garden (saw a worm, yuck), which is growing nicely (thanks to the worms, yuck). I watched Gossip Girl, a guilty pleasure/addiction. It is truly a sinful habit. I usually only let myself watch it after I've finished my to-do list for the evening.

So this fabulous day culminated in North Park at various restaurants offering $2 drink and food options. I had more drink than food combined with good friends resulted in some inebriation and sass. Nothing kills a buzz quite like losing my purse.

I'm walking along the street when Connery says that I'm calling him. I assume the buttons on my phone had been squished just right to call him. Then I realize I do not have my purse. It must have fallen out of my pocket (it was a clutch). I immediately turn around with my eyes to the ground. Connery is talking on the phone with the couple who found my purse and called the last phone number I had called. Fortunately, it worked out. Tell me God's hand was not in that. So many things could have gone wrong. I didn't even know I had lost my purse until it had been found.

So I'm brimming with gratefulness. There is nothing I can do to return the favor to Jesus except, maybe, sharing this story with as many people as I can. God works behind the scenes. Some may reason it away, but I know it was God and I praise Him.
